An oil puddle shimmers uninterrupted. As the lights smear and rift out of body now, to what do we owe this divine city our former experience. Who is we anyway? Roll up to the checkpoint of our subconscious. Environmental stimuli no longer in play, lets look, Madeline Hollander examines the degrees in which our movements are manifest by the systems that are invisible to us.
Physics combined with the cultural, political and physical currents that Hollander identifies through vigilant research and observation are then telepathically processed into a series of “signature moves” assigned to each idiosyncratic part of a choreographic whole. Heads/Tails holds a mirror to the movement and patterns of the vehicular traffic outside, illuminating the loop of systemic power we once accepted as our daily shuffle, the technology that disciplines its audience.
Once going through the motions becomes business as usual, the taillights wink, the machine flips and the animal spins out. Insight reorganizes perception, knowledge reconfigures the system. Like a wild Lecavalier with the directive of Mercury, state-dependent memory twists to create eccentric new fruits and hybrids. We is the community with the heart and stomach of deity, the real power we have is in changing our own minds.
